Color match (Delta-E, module 148) measures whether the printed logo color matches your brand-standard Pantone reference at delivery. Lightfastness (module 151) measures whether the color survives UV / ozone exposure over time. Crock fastness measures a third, independent dimension: whether the printed ink transfers from the printed-face to another surface (white-ground crock-test fabric, an adjacent ribbon layer, the consumer's hand, the inner-pack) under mechanical rubbing and contact with moisture.
The three specs are independent — a ribbon can pass Delta-E ≤ 1.00 at delivery, ISO 105-B02 grade 6 lightfastness, AND fail crock at grade 2 (heavy transfer) within 30 days of stacked storage. The most common "the print looks smudged" complaint is not a Delta-E failure or a lightfastness failure — it is a crock failure caused by ink-chemistry mismatch with substrate, insufficient cure, or missing release-paper interleave between spool layers.

ISFA 116 is the narrow-fabric industry-standard reference developed by the International Special Fabrics Association specifically for ribbon / tape / webbing. ISO 105-X12 is the global textile reference. AATCC 8 is the parallel North American textile reference. All three use the same crockmeter geometry (100 mm stroke, 900 g weight) and the same gray-scale grading (1 = heavy transfer, 5 = no transfer). For brand programs, specifying all three is acceptable; specifying just ISFA 116 is the cleanest for narrow-fabric programs.
The dry crock test uses a dry white-ground crock-test fabric (undyed cotton or undyed polyester per the test method), mounted on the crockmeter finger. The crockmeter finger is rubbed across the printed ribbon surface for 10 strokes (back-and-forth, 100 mm stroke length). The white-ground fabric is then graded against the AATCC / ISO gray-scale for staining. Grade 5 = no visible stain; grade 4 = slight stain visible only at certain angles; grade 3 = visible stain; grade 2 = significant stain; grade 1 = heavy stain. Most brand programs specify dry crock grade 4-5 minimum.
The wet crock test is identical to the dry crock test except the white-ground crock-test fabric is wetted with distilled water (or simulated-perspiration solution per ISO 105-E04). Wet crock is more demanding than dry crock because the water / perspiration swells the ink-film and increases transfer-rate. Wet crock grade 3-4 is the typical brand-buyer spec; grade 4-5 is the premium spec. Below grade 3, the ribbon will visibly transfer ink on contact with moisture (rain, hand-cream, sweat, condensation).
Perspiration fastness is a separate test method that exposes the printed ribbon to a synthetic-perspiration solution (pH 5.5 acid + pH 8.0 alkaline) at 37 degrees C for 4 hours. The ribbon is then graded for color-change AND for staining on adjacent white-ground fabric. Perspiration fastness is relevant for ribbon worn as an accessory (hair-bow, wrist-bow, hat-trim, scarf-trim, boutonniere). Specify ISO 105-E04 grade 3-4 for accessory-end-use ribbon; downgraded to optional for pure gift-packaging ribbon.
Sublimation / bleed-resistance is a stability test for printed-ribbon under heat and humidity. The printed ribbon is exposed to 180-200 degrees C x 30 seconds (heat-pressing condition) or 40 degrees C x 90% RH x 7 days (warehouse-storage condition). The ribbon is then inspected for: (a) ink-bleed (ink spreading beyond the print-edge); (b) ink-fade (ink color-shift); (c) ink-transfer to adjacent surface. For dye-sublimation-printed ribbon, this is the critical test; sublimation dyes are inherently heat-sensitive. Specify sublimation-grade dye-chemistry for heat-exposed end-uses (heat-press finishing, hot-climate shipping).

Brand buyer rule of thumb: For OEKO-TEX Standard 100 / CPSIA / REACH-compliant brand-mark ribbon programs, specify water-based pigment ink on polyester or cotton substrate. For premium luxury programs, specify dye-sublimation on polyester or foil-stamp on any substrate. For heritage / fashion brand-mark programs, specify woven-jacquard (yarn-dyed) — crock is inherent to yarn structure, not a coating. Plastisol ink is generally incompatible with OEKO-TEX Class I / II programs because of phthalate-restriction under CPSIA and REACH.
Fabric-to-fabric crock is the crock transfer that occurs when printed ribbon is wound on a spool and the printed-face contacts the unprinted-face of the adjacent ribbon layer. Over storage time (30 to 90 days at ambient warehouse temperature, accelerated at 40 degrees C / 60% RH), the ink transfers from the printed-face to the unprinted-face, creating a visible ghost-image on the previously-clean ribbon. For printed logo ribbon that ships on a white inner-pack (the inner-pack becomes the white-ground for crock grading), specify dry crock grade 4-5 per ISO 105-X12 / AATCC 8. Wet crock grade 3-4 minimum for ribbon that may contact water / hand-cream / perspiration. Water-based ink achieves dry crock 4-5 and wet crock 3-4 on polyester and cotton, with proper cure (160-180 degrees C x 90 seconds heat-cure). Specify release-paper or tissue-paper interleave for spools > 30m or > 50m depending on ink-substrate.
Perspiration fastness per ISO 105-E04 is most relevant for ribbon worn as accessory (hair-bow, wrist-bow, hat-trim, scarf-trim). For pure gift-packaging ribbon (used only as decorative wrap, not worn), perspiration fastness is generally not required. Many luxury brands specify it anyway as a brand-quality halo. If your ribbon program includes any accessory end-use (hair-bow, wrist-bow), specify ISO 105-E04 pH 5.5 + pH 8.0, grade 3-4. For pure gift-packaging ribbon, perspiration fastness can be downgraded to optional.
